About the Role

As a Disability Support Worker, you will be providing person-centred active support to people living with disabilities, in our Lifestyle and Community Support (LS) program in Orange. Our LS team supports people living with disability in their day-to-day lives by empowering them clients to find their strengths and build their capacity to live independently. The cornerstone of our approach is to assist in the delivery of services that facilitate client’s development of social networks and encourage community activities in live with LWB policies and procedures. Activities should be focused on increasing awareness of healthy lifestyle options and reducing social isolation.

Our LS program shifts primarily fall between 9am to 4pm on weekdays however availability for occasional weekend shifts and shifts that may finish as late as 9pm may be required as well.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently facilitate goal attainment through meaningful client-chosen activities and encourage community participation which may include 1 on 1 support within the community
  • Track and document the changing needs of clients through thorough record-keeping
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, their families and your team
  • Advocate for client choice and control in a way that is safe and compliant

Skills & Experience

  • An unrestricted New South Wales driver’s licence
  • Committed to work flexible work hours across the week, including public holidays
  • Demonstrated ability to use basic technology and software on a mobile and desktop
  • A current First Aid Certificate, which includes the course HLTAID003 or HLTAID011

Successful candidates will be required to clear all state-based probity checks; including but not limited to a National Criminal History Record Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
