Join Our Team as a Resident Artist at Life Without Barriers!

Are you passionate about making a difference through the delivery of therapeutic art programs? Life Without Barriers invites applications for the role of Resident Artist to work with clients engaged in our mental health services.  As a Resident Artist, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and managing an Arts Program tailored for predominantly adult clients experiencing mental health issues. This will mainly take place in the form of group work but may also include individual work.

About You 

As an LWB Resident Artist, your pivotal role involves delivering specialised community-based art services tailored for adults and young people navigating mental health issues. You will creatively engage with clients to foster therapeutic outcomes, empower self-expression, and contribute positively to their personal growth and well-being.

This role is based at office in Unley and as being offered as a part-time, one day per week contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordination and management of therapeutic art services (group and individual) for clients experiencing mental health issues.
  • Participation in the development of quality plans for all clients as appropriate to their needs and the implementation and review of those plans.
  • Coordination and monitoring of client progress to ensure it is line with the agreed case plan, and expenditure within agreed budget and funding allocation from Life Without Barriers.
  • Providing an appropriate model to clients in terms of dress, language, and behaviours.
  • Performing all duties with integrity, honesty, diplomacy, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Contact and liaise with relevant leadership regarding any complaints/grievances.
  • Maintain all necessary records and provide reports as required.

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Visual Arts.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SA Children’s Protection Act, Family and Community Services Act and associated Out of Home Care Standards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SA Guardianship and Administration Act.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SA Disability Services Act and associated Disability National Standards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare Act and Regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability or willingness to work with people from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background and for people with a non-English speaking background.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Photography.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
